Nature Therapy Walk – Fri 30 Nov 2018

Step away from the every day busyness, the relentless rush and cramming before Christmas.

Step into the forest for a moment of natural pause and experience a nature therapy walk.

You are invited to join us in the beautiful grounds of the Clinton-Baker Pinetum for a truly restorative nature therapy walk.  By taking the time to reconnect with ourselves and deepening our connection to nature, we will begin to uncover some of the powerful therapeutic benefits that spending time in nature has on our ‘being well’.

We will take a slow gentle walk through the forest and experience the land like you have never experienced before. Through a series of guided invitations you will have the opportunity to notice. Notice yourself, the land and all the beings within. Give yourself a chance to enter the busy weekend with gentleness, ease and flow.  Your friends and family will want to know what your secret is!

About the event

Nature therapy also known as eco-therapy, forest therapy or Shinrin Yoku, a globally recognised practice known for its benefits to both physical, mental and social wellbeing. It’s not a long hike but a slow and mindful walk through nature. You are gently guided through a series of invitations where you are free to explore your surroundings with all your senses, with time for mindful awareness and reflection, as well as opportunities to share your thoughts and experiences.

There is a wealth of evidence to show that spending time in nature can improve mood, mental performance and creativity, reduce anxiety, depression, blood pressure. The trees themselves actually give off natural chemicals (phytoncides) which are being studied for their positive impact on our immune function.

Nature and forest therapy is not just a phase or new ‘in’ term.  It’s an important movement of connection, weaving the full power of nature into our lives to improve wellbeing for all on a wide scale.

The experience lasts for just over two hours but no physical exertion or previous experience is required. All you need is an open heart to embrace the benefits of this powerful therapeutic practice.

About your Guide

Your guide will be Sam Wright, an accredited life coach and forest therapy guide. She is currently one of only a few people in the UK who is in training with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs – offering nature therapy walks to support deeper connection, healing and well-being.

After working for many years in the corporate scientific and research industry, Sam set up her business, Natural Edge Coaching, specialising in supporting clients through a period of transition – whether that’s at work, in relationships, or in other aspects of life.

With a BSc in Biological Science, with Zoology, Sam has always been inspired by the natural world and is passionate about demonstrating the benefits of being out in nature. She combines her scientific and coaching experience with her compassionate, empathetic and intuitive approach, and it’s her mission is to help as many people as possible reconnect with themselves and their environment, empowering them to be their own leader of a life of wholeness and fulfilment.  With the forest as her partner she believes people will fall back in love with the land and work together to nurture its wellbeing, as it nurtures theirs.
