As humans we have developed a great sense of smell which helped us survive and thrive.
Even today we pick up on warning smells early. We can detect when milk smells bad often before pouring and this triggers an immediate ‘do not drink’ response. Lots of us love the smell of freshly cut grass and are seemingly amazed by where scent takes our memories. This is all due to the anatomy of our brain and is no coincidence.
We can offer ourselves some olfactory nature connection by inviting in natural scents which our bodies love. It might be by diffusing some essential oils, or opening the window in the rain after a dry period, to smell the petrichor on the air.
In this one minute video I explore the intense fragrance of the early Hawthorn blossom and it fills my senses with joy.
